ZSW TECHNOLOGY

The “ZERO STONE WASTE” (“ZSW”) project is based on the construction of a compact and flexible plant for the treatment of “stone waste“, “by-products“ and “sub-products”,  called the “ZSW Plant”. The first line, called “GEF ”, dehydrates, sieves, and recycles stone sludge (marble dust) and filter-press cakes, transforming them into “eco-FILLER”. A series of parallel and interconnected lines, namely “GEF”, “GEA” and “GES” are responsible for recovering solid stone waste (sludge and fragments) and turning them into recovered AGGREGATES. They also directly transform stone sludge into binding PASTES or adhesive/collagenous PASTES.

Finally, the two downstream lines, named “GEM” and “GEC”, allow for the preparation of various types of pre-mixed CEMENTITIOUS blends and the production of precast building products. Both GEM and GEC transform and mix recovered fillers/aggregates (end-of-waste) with cements and/or other binders (lime putty, acrylic polymers, geopolymers) and specific additives developed by the partnership coordinated by IS.I.M. The innovation lies in the ability to easily produce locally using high percentages of waste/by-products by installing ZSW plant production lines directly where waste/by-products are generated and deposited, such as by the settling tanks for processing wastewater and the sludge compacting filter-presses positioned at ornamental and dimensional stone processing plants. The ZSW plant can produce “end-products” of medium and high value immediately usable for application in the local market (in construction for new buildings and for maintenance and restoration of existing buildings), packaged depending on the product state, DRY OR WET, (whether the material serving as mortar, plaster or adhesive is available as dry mix and requires the addition of mixing water or latex, or if it is in a ready-to-use paste state, already moistured) in 20/25 kg bags, 500/1000 kg big bags, and/or pails and drums or bags following CE marking:

Pre-mixed and additives for construction (adhesives, leveling compounds, putties, plaster, concrete, floor screeds, etc.) DRY/POWDER or IN PASTE form.

Lightweight and/or structural precast products (lightweight blocks for masonry, panels for facades and partitions, urban design objects, elements for prefabrication, etc.)
